Workin in my Smash Book

What a beautiful sunshiny day it is,  this sixth day of February, maybe high 60s?   We are suppose to break some temperature records this weekend.  I decided to work on my Smash Book that I got for Christmas.

Definition of a SmashBook: This is a delightfully simplified way to chronicle life’s special moments without the time commitment usually required by scrapbooking.

I like to do some mixed media stuff in mine so far.  Here is my latest:

I started out by using up some grey gesso that I was using for my bathroom pictures that I am making.   I used a stamp that I got with my Smashbook Kit that I got fromvictoryroad
She has just made up a new batch and are available at www.etsy.com/shop/fromvictoryroad

I wanted to write about what makes me happy and what are simple pleasures to me....  I love my white  Signo Uni-ball pen.  I used an old calendar that I had and saved to tear out some of the words and things.  What a nice way to spend a sunny afternoon...
 It makes me happy ........

2015 ~ Look out cos here I come!

We brought the New Year in with a night of good sleep! On NYD we went and had a great meal at Carlos O'Kellys. I love, love, love their orange-mango margaritas.  We had a nice slow peaceful new years day.

Today the snow came down so softly from the sky.  There was no wind and it was just hovering around the freezing mark.  I went out in just a jacket and took a few pictures with my "new to me" camera.

My "Snow Garden" is very welcoming!

The neighbor kids enjoying the snow!

Such big and beautiful flakes falling.
Some leftovers from fall getting a pretty white blanket for the new year!
It is now 8pm and I went to check outside and we are having a blizzard!  Blowing snow and cold, cold wind!  What happened to my pretty snowfall??  Only in Kansas!

My New Favorite Pastime! Mixed Media Art

I have loved to paint and draw since I was a little girl and this last year have been taking some art classes from my friend Kayann Ausherman at From Victory Road http://fromvictoryroad.com/ .  She has helped to respark that passion that I had put away during the years of raising kids, work and other things.  Here I am getting ready to play with my new Christmas treasures.  I got a Smashbook kit from Victory Road http://fromvictoryroad.com/.  Oh my it has such wonderful things in it!  I also spent some of my Christmas $$ on a new kind of media called Gellatos.

My first pages of my "This N That" book: Page 1 is made with the Gelatos and some of the goodies in my kit.  Page 2 is a piece that I found on Pinterest.  Not my idea but she was fun to do!

This is a "stuff" holder that I painted of a little box cover from one of my christmas presents.  It was too sturdy to throw away.  It turned out really cute.

It will sit on my desk and be a little catch-all until I put things away in its proper place.  I am so excited to work on my planner and art journal AND Smashbook...My my when will I scrapbook!!

Here's to a wonderful 2015 and lets see if I continue my quest to blog!!  hmmmm when will I do that??????......

OMGoodness What a headache

For the last several weeks I have been trying to access this blog site to post on it and have had a devil of a time!!
I FINALLY discovered tonight after one hour of computer rage that I have two gmail accounts!!!  (Sigh)  Go figure.....

I feel so much better now though~ I was afraid I was going to have to abandon this one and just blog on my new one (which I did start on Wordpress by the way) Sorry Blogger for all the bad words I just called you` when it was really my fault all along....all because of the number 1!!

There has been sooooo much happen since I last blogged back in February.  I lost my momma, spent a long hot summer just working, but did enjoy the grandkids of course...and lots of other stuff I will get you caught up on.

For now I want to share our Thanksgiving photo.....
We had a nice Thanksgiving. Uncle Jimmy and I are not in the picture but we were there also.  I did fix Moms cornbread dressing and it did pass Jaimes approval.
I was fortunate to find her recipe here in her recipe box.....a priceless box of memories and goodness.

More to come soon on my blogging~ This is to be my "therapy".

The Blizzard of Oz !!

We are in the middle of the second snowstorm in a week, that has closed down just about everything, including work!  I would not say it is one of my favorite things, but the beauty and fun that comes after certainly is.

We received around 14 inches of this beautiful wet stuff on our very dry, dry yard. We need this moisture so badly.  Today we are to get another 6-8 inches on top of that.
Alot of it melted over the weekend tho.  PaPa, Mya and I made a snowman and she went sledding.  It was a beautiful day. Our sled was out of cardboard! Hey, It worked! LOL

                                                         Ooopsie!!

Then we went to the backyard and made "Frosty"

Afterward we came in and made some treats. Brownie Pops..... Yumm, I made most of them while Mya napped and she put the sprinkles on them. Then we gave them to everyone. We went to dinner at Aunt Janices house...she gave one to her and Aunt Sharon.

What a wonderful Sunday ~ one of my favorite things
I did miss going to church though.  It was one of those days I felt overwhelmed with
family and home obligations. Then to have a snow day to catch up on stuff.
Ahh well.......

Already the 4th!! ??

Wow, what happened to November and December 2012?  Christmas snuck up on everyone, once again.  We were thankful during Thanksgiving and Merry during Christmas and Happy during the New Year that the holidays were over.  D-bear (Dylann) was here for Christmas.  That always makes it very special.
There was a little bit of snow leftover, only on the north sides of the houses.  We played in it with no coats and with gloves on.  We made a tiny little snowman, made a snow angel and threw snowballs!  It was fun!!  One of my favorite things!!

I will catch up on November and December soon, but for now, here is a picture of the kids and Aunt Jaimes on Christmas Eve.....

PS  This was suppose to come before the last blog post, but it did not get done!!!

But don't want to waste it!!!

Will do better....

My New Room! I Love It!

My craft room was previously my daughters bedroom. She had painted it turquose with pink blinds and curtains. She had about a thousand little holes where her posters were at.  It was long overdue for an overhaul.
Here are some before pictures, I did not get any of the scrapbook part darn.

I love the colors brown and blue together, so that was what I went with, and my accent color of maroon which is carried throughout the rest of the house too.

I moved the desk to the west side of the room and made a little reading corner. Then moving around the room is the computer desk.

Then on around to my scrapbooking table.  I am still working on this cos it still looks a little cluttered to me. I moved the plant and that helped a bit.  I repainted the pegboard and we added a shelf.  I put many of my embellishments in mason jars to display.  Love it!!!
This is the closet with an old computer desk that holds all of my scrapbook things in it. I love lots of light so have many lamps too!

I love my new room, I found a brown and blue carpet from Alco and some pretty maroon valances from JC Penny, both very reasonable.

I splurged on a clearance wall hanging from Hobby Lobby to hang above  the shelves.

This was done very low cost, paint was the main expense. The curtains, blinds and rug were all on sale or clearance. Total redo of approx. $100.00.  I reused alot of things I already had elsewhere in the house. I LOVE it.  It is one of my FAVORITE things.....

The Gathering 2012

I just got back today from a wonderful weekend at the Webster Conference Center, where there was a retreat for our church and other churches in our District.  I took along Kolby, Akyra, Addy and Mya!  We all had a great time.  I know the girls LOVED it! Kolby, being in the youth, away from us, and with alot of kids older, said he had a good time. Even going down the zip line! (The best part was when he got to the ground tho!)

We had some AWESOME speakers too....But the one that touched me the most was Dr. Paul Ullom-Minnich, who told his story of going to Haiti in 2010, after the earthquake.  That is something that I would like to do someday.  Scarey tho, to leave my safe little world....We talked about just saying YES!! and I have been trying to "just say NO! for so long....... At first, Dr. Paul said No, although he wanted to help in some way. He had checked many avenues to go and kept hitting road blocks so he just decided that he could not go.  One week later, Brethren Disaster Ministries called him and asked if he would go. He said Yes! and has never regretted it.

I will share more pictures of the kids later but this is my best.......
